Welcome Pastor Gabe Imler!

Gabe has been a lifelong member here at HCOB.  He has served as our Administrative Team Chair, Director of Kids' Night, and a facilitator for the "First Sunday Focus" Sunday School Class.  Previously, Gabe was the Program Director at Camp Blue Diamond.

Gabe is a licensed Minister in the Church of the Brethren and will continue working to become an Ordained Minister as he steps into his new role as our Pastor.

The Pastoral Search Team is grateful for the Congregation's prayer and support through this process.

Organist/Pianist:  
Earla Reffner

Our organist  & pianist, Earla Reffner, never had to be told to practice after she started piano lessons at age five. Once her parents gave her the opportunity to take lessons, she instantly fell in love with playing music. 

This enthusiasm never left her as she continued her musical development through high school and college. She didn’t stop taking lessons until her third year of college, by which time she had garnered experience playing for her high school chorus and the “Meistersingers,” a more advanced high school singing group, and studying music education in college. After college, Earla taught piano lessons, worked as an accompanist, and played as a church organist.  

She first played in church at age thirteen. Soon thereafter, in eighth grade, she realized that music is what she wanted to pursue for the rest of her life. She’s enjoyed great success since that point. Her favorite memories as a musician have been competing in district and regional band on clarinet in high school and serving the Church of the Brethren as the organist for the 2006 Annual Conference in Des Moines, Iowa.

That subtle smile hints at the sense of humor that lurks in the mind of our choir director, Jeff Imler. 

Jeff has been a member of  our congregation since 1993 and choir director since the fall of 2008. He enjoys singing and playing the trumpet. Jeff is part of several local musical groups including Brethren Brass and the Hollidaysburg Community Band. 

All are encouraged and welcomed to join the choir at any point in the year. Practices are at 6:45 pm on Wednesday nights, September-May.
